Life Groups

Our midweek Life Groups provide opportunities for people to meet together, mainly in homes around the parish, for Bible Study, prayer, friendship and support. There are currently five groups with a flexible attendance of around 35 to 50 people. Please use the contact form (link) or contact the Church Office for more information about Life Groups.

The Drama Group

Drama has been an integral part of our worship at Hillside for a number of years. At first it was an occasional feature with dramatic sketches, monologues and sometimes mime, but it now forms an important part of our weekly worship. Sometimes humorous, sometimes serious, these vignettes are integrated with the service’s overall theme. Members of the drama group are aged from 9 to 60+ in line with Hillside’s philosophy of encouraging all ages to minister.

Hospitality and Catering Team

Food has been a vital part of Hillside life for a number of years and we have an enthusiastic Catering Team who are skilled in providing hospitality both for our regular congregation and visitors at Cafe Church and for larger Deanery and Diocesan events when these occasions arise.

Hillside Wanderers

Our walking group meets about once a month to enjoy walks of 3 to 6 miles in the beautiful countryside in and around Gateshead. Details are normally posted on our Hillside Church Facebook page.

The Hillside Band

Since the original music group was formed in 1987 we have been blessed to have had many talented and experienced musicians and singers as members. The band members’ ages vary widely, reflecting the level of importance we place on encouraging the developing ministry of our young musicians. The band leads worship at our main services and other special events throughout the year.

All Saints Pre-School

Children have always been vitally important to life at Hillside and we are proud of our OFSTED registered Pre-School which provides high quality affordable care during school terms for 2-4 year olds, with experienced staff and excellent facilities. The Pre-School is 30 years old this year. Originally called the All Saints Playgroup, it was one of our first new initiatives following the refurbishment of the church hall in 1984.

There were originally two leaders but now there are seven, all fully qualified to deliver a lively, stimulating, educational and fun curriculum for ten sessions per week. Following changes in government funding we now offer places for children from 2 years old. We are also able to care for children with special educational needs. The staff have developed their expertise in this area and we have an excellent reputation within Gateshead for the way we make a big difference to the lives of these children.

The Pre-School has its own website:
